GLOSSARY GRANTS PASS SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY ACTION PLAN Sustainability Sustainability is the ability to persist and to thrive. In the context of this Plan, thismeans using resources in a way that does not diminish the ability of future generations to livewell, or ineconomic terms, living off our interest rather than our principal. Vanpooling Vanpooling is similar to carpooling, but it involves a group of typically 7 to 15 people commuting together with an unpaid driver. Vehicles may be owned by an individual or provided by an employer. Waste Reduction Model (WARM) WARM is a tool developed by the EPA toprovide high -level estimates ofpotential GHG emissions reductions, energy savings, and economic impacts from several different waste management practices. WARM estimates these impacts from baseline andalternative waste management practices —source reduction, recycling, anaerobic digestion, combustion, composting and landfilling. 177
