service within the Medford UGB, including sharing co sts of survey s, studies, and research needed

such as subsidized transit passes.
Longer-Term Actions (5-20 years)
All of the foregoing, short-term strategies should conti nue to be im plem ented. In addition, the City of
Medford should:
• Consider entering into an agreem ent with RVTD for focused and specific service im provem ents
that would be funded by direct city financi ng. Such service im provem ents could include the
options discussed in Table 7-2 above or other st rategies that becom e important to the city .
• Increase coordination between RVTD staff and City staff in planning for and the developm ent of

Intercity Bus Needs
Intercity bus service between Medford and other des tinations in Oregon and elsewhere in the United
States is provided by Grey hound Bus Lines. As described in Chapter 3, existing Grey hound service is
offered seven days a week in both northbound and s outhbound directions, with service focused on the I-5
corridor. There are six buses each day to and from the north (including the Willam ette Valley and
Portland) and five buses each day to and from the south. In Grey hound Bus Depot is located in
downtown Medford a few blocks from RVTD’s Front Street station (t he hub of all RVTD fixed route
service) and is accessible via the local RVTD bus sy stem. No significant im provem ents are proposed for
expansion of the existing privately -opera ted intercity bus service or facilities.
Intercity Bus Strategies
To support the continued availability of intercity bus service to/from the Medford area, the City should
consider the following actions:
• Ensure that the existing intercity passenger f acilities in downtown Medford are connected to
adequate pedestrian facilities.
• Ensure that there is continued availability of transit, taxi and/or shuttle services to connect with
all intercity passenger facilities.
