Miss Margaret Dunph-re7,7, Irish, was born in un Prairie and has
lived there all her life. ..he is employed in the Municipal Electric
arid iater Utilities Company, office in the Public Library Building.
Sun Prairie has many points of interest --About five years ago

they built a splendid school building Arhich is well equipped in every
oc-) way. It has a fine gymnasium, which is of great value to the young
-n: people of the community.

Angell, an old settler, is well known throughout disco-nsin. It is

E' within the city limits and, its dance pavilion itt one time was the
largest in the state. many Aell known popular orchestras play there

throughout the summer season. The pa2k is well supnlied with play-

ground equipment for children and is well patronized by them during
the summer months. There are also free accomadations for tourists.
cn All celebrations are held there such as the Fall Festival, Labor
a:64 Day and Fourth -of July. The fireman have entire charge of the park r
but the village furnishes with light and water free of charge.
A little story is told about the gift of the park to the .fire-
r- men. Mr. Angell presented. it to them, with stipulation that liquor

was never to be sold on the grounds but they bought an additional
piece of ground, and. moved the pavilion on it, thus overcoming that.

The main industries of un Prairie are thendisconsin Porcelain
ilforksr, the Ca'nning Company and the Creamery. The .Force lain tiorks,
is a very unique industry. 1.1r. 3tohl, the manager, very courteously
showed us over theentire plant and it proved to be an interesting
experience. This business x,i.ves employment to between 100 and. 125
-people and manfactures procelain electrical fixtures. The Canning
Company has quite an extensive plant and presents an attractive sight
p31 with its newly painted grey and white buildings, and individual brick

offi ce building. The plant, of course operates during the summer
months, when the peas and. tomatoes, their two products are in season

and gives employment to a number of people at this time.
The Creamery, of course, is open for business all the year

Living expanses are very reasonable in Sun Pnairie. There is
a shortage of houses. Many former Madison people commute back and
forth between Sukt Prairie and the capitol finding it cheaper to live
in Sun Prairie.
The village itself controls .the janiciai -'lectric and vlater
les buying its current from from the viisconsin Power and. Light
Co. and, re selling it to .the village.
The water supply is very cheap, as the village owns is own
artesian wells.
A ',fire', whistle, controlled by an electric button at the telephone
office, sounds at seven A.M.; at noon; at one P.M. and, at six P.M.
It also blows when there is a fire, twice for town, three times
for the country. The Sun Prairie Fire Department goes out in the
country. Payment of a certain fee is charged for this
Curfeu sounds at eight Phi. in the winter and nine P.M. in thii-
summer. The children must be off the street at this time, unless
accompanied. by their parents or older people. This rule. is enforced
at the present time.
