Description: Microsoft has purchased more than 8.2 million tonnes of CDR, making it the world’s the largest buyer of CDR credits. It signed the largest-
ever CDR deal with Swedish energy company Stockholm Exergi in May 2024, a 10-year agreement to remove more than 3.3 million tonnes of CO2 from
a BECCS plant. Microsoft had made the previous largest deal globally with the Danish energy company Ørsted.
