Costantino also had team highs in both rebounds (six) and steals (four), as the Grizzlies rolled to a dominating 35-18 halftime lead despite playing without point guard Sam Littleton. "They played very well tonight," Ashland head coach Rick Cornelius said. I was very pleased for the most part. Our size was a problem for them." Senior forward Josh McDermott moved to the point in place of Littleton and was effective in getting the Grizzlies into their offense. Rick Cornelius said that was one of Ashland's keys. "(McDermott) is so savvy," Cornelius said. "He has a great feel for the game and he did a marvelous job." The Grizzlies as a team did a marvelous job on the fastbreak as well. They ran on Mazama at will and ended up hitting 22 of 28 two-point shots. The Grizzlies' were 2-for-11 on 3-pointers and 16-for-19 from the free throw line. Jeff Skinner added 10 points to the Grizzlies' cause. Garrett Poetsch led the Vikings (0-2) with 11 points. Ashland plays its home-opener Saturday against Yreka.
