--> --> Dec. 19: Ashland girls suffer 57-40 setback at Grants Pass Ashland Daily Tidings GRANTS PASS - The Ashland girls basketball team was outscored 32-12 in the first and fourth quarters combined Tuesday in a 57-40 Southern Oregon Conference loss to Grants Pass. The Cavers went up 15-3 after one quarter and blitzed the Grizzlies 17-9 in the fourth to run away with their first league win of the season. The loss drops Ashland to 0-2 in the SOC, 2-5 overall, while Grants Pass improved to 1-1 and 4-2. "In the first half, our shots just weren't falling," Ashland coach Stephanie Santos said. Junior post Marla Morin paced the Grizzlies with 15 points, including 12 in the third quarter, when Ashland made a brief comeback bid. The Grizzlies got the lead down to 40-34 early in the fourth, but were held to six points the rest of the way. Megan Moon scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Cavers. The Grizzlies host a non-conference battle with Redmond Friday night starting at 7 p.m. at the Mountain Avenue gym. Email your...
