--> --> Land-use laws up for grabs in this May election If you haven't voted yet, and haven't received a mailing from the Oregon League of Conservation Voters, you should know that the usually ignored judge races contain a booby-trap this time in the form of the candidacy of David J. Hunnicutt, running for Judge of the Court of Appeals. This is a non-partisan race, but Hunnicutt is a right-wing, "wise-use" zealot, a land-use lawyer who represents Oregonians in Action, a property-rights group composed of developers and timber companies that benefit from uncontrolled sprawl. He hopes to unseat the incumbent, David Schuman, a judge distinguished by the highest integrity, intelligence, and ability and strongly recommended by Gov. Kitzhaber and former Attorney General Dave Frohmayer, among many other distinguished supporters. Don't ignore this race. Our land-use laws may depend on it. Isaac Walker Ashland Email your...
