Freshman Brenna Heater had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who also received 12 points apiece from Danielle Thompson and Josie McDermott. Jamie Roupp added nine points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who were 27-for-56 from the field. Phoenix girls Creswell slipped past the Pirates 55-49 in Phoenix on Saturday night. Creswell took advantage of Phoenix’s 2-for-8 effort from the foul line in the second overtime of a nonconference game. Phoenix outscored Creswell 13-3 in the third quarter behind seven points from Alex Hanscom to erase a five-point deficit. The Pirates fell to 1-8 despite 17 points, six assists and four steals from Hanscom. Kim Novak had nine points and 12 rebounds. Ashland Boys At Oxnard, Calif., Taft had 17 offensive rebounds and forced 23 Ashland turnovers to win the third-place game 65-45 at the eight-team Trident Tournament on Saturday. Taft also drilled 10 shots from 3-point range to pull away. Josh Cornelius led the Grizzlies (5-3) with 13 points. Colin Reinstedt had a team-high eight rebounds. Swimming At Roseburg, he Roseburg swim team flexed its muscles Saturday by sweeping dual meets from South Medford and Ashland on Saturday. The Indian boys defeated the Panthers, 105-39, and slipped past Ashland, 96-76. In the girls meet, Roseburg scored a 96-67 victory over South to complete the sweep. Ashland did not have a complete girls team. The Grizzly boys posted an 88-35 win over South Medford. Brad Doll and Miner Ross each had a victory for the Panthers against Roseburg, while Jamie Buckley scored two wins and Paige Granger added another during the South girls’ loss to the Indians. Corey Thomas paced the Ashland boys with a pair of wins against Roseburg. Hockey At Klamath Falls, Grif Sollinger’s shootout goal lifted Ashland to the win 4-3 win over Klamath Falls. The game was tied at 3-3 through regulation, with Tiffany Schoonover scoring twice and Casey Skolnik once for Ashland. Mark Rasmusson was in goal.
