Ashland Independent Film Festival: The 14th annual Ashland film festival runs from Thursday, April 9, through Monday, April 13, with more than 90 films and other events at the Varsity Theatre, 166 E. Main St., the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland Street Cinema, 1644 Ashland St., and the Ashland Springs Hotel, 212 E. Main St. The feature will be "Gremlins 2: The New Batch," and short films, including the 1943 Merrie Melodies cartoon that introduced the gremlin, will follow.
