--> --> Road closures still in effect near Quartz Fire mop up Ashland Daily Tidings As firefighters work to mop up the damage left by the Quartz Fire, outdoor recreationists will have to wait their turn before venturing along their favorite trails and backroads. Road closures in the Rogue River National Forest remain in effect to ensure the safety of both the public and the fire crews still working in the area. The closed area is generally described as national forest lands and roads bordered by the forest boundary on the north, Forest Road 22 from Wagner Gap on the east, Forest Road 20 from Siskiyou Gap to the junction with Bureau of Land Management Road 39-2-32. The length of Forest Road 22 and Forest Road 20 from Siskiyou Gap to the junction with BLM Road 39-2-32 remain closed. Other public restrictions are in place on the Rogue River and Siskiyou National forests due to the continued severity of fire conditions in Southern Oregon. Campfires and charcoal are prohibited except in designated forest service campgrounds, but gas stoves are allowed. Smoking is also prohibited except within an enclosed vehicle or a designated forest service campground. Operating motorized vehicles off road is also prohibited.
