Maybe this piece was printed as an illustration of the feebleness of this position? In any case, with the extreme polarization that plagues our political climate, the Tidings should try to find more coherent commentary to print, rather than this sort of claptrap that only serves to widen the political chasm. Dan Fellman Ashland Stand up for Oregon Rogue Valley citizens: We need you to defeat the pipeline. We already have enough existing state and federal laws to deny this project. It is only by a critical mass of us that this proposal will be defeated. If you don't know about what's at stake, email [email protected] or call the Riverkeeper office at 541-488-9831. This is too critical an issue to be ignored. Time is short; in late September Salem's Department of State Lands will announce their decision: Whether or not to authorize the pipeline. We must not fail. Email, write, or leave a phone message to one or more of the following: 1. Gov. Kate Brown: governor.oregon.gov; State Capitol Building, 900 Court St. NE, Suite 160, Salem, OR 97301; 503-378-4582. 2. Department of State Lands: Mary M. Abrams, director of proprietary waterway authorizations; mary.m.abrams @state.or.us; 503-986-5224. 3. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ): Dick Pederson, director; pederson.dick @deq.state.or.us; 503-229-5300. 4. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC): Anton C. Porter, executive director, 888 First St. NE, Washington, DC 20426; 202-502-8300. Thank you all for getting involved.
