--> --> Oct. 26: Pirates down Chieftains to take over second place ROGUE RIVER - The Phoenix High football remained a game behind fourth-ranked North Valley in the Skyline Conference standings with a 26-20 victory over winless Rogue River Friday night. The Pirates (5-3, 4-1) travel to North Valley (6-0, 5-0) next Friday. The Knights knocked off Henley 21-0 Friday. Against Rogue River, Phoenix senior running back Eric Kessler rushed for 239 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Pirates. After Kessler's three TDs had given the Pirates a 20-13 lead, Rogue River tied the game with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Matt Frederick to Matt Branch with 1:45 left. Phoenix senior quarterback Ross Ellis guided the Pirates back down the field, capping an impressive drive with a 14-yard strike to Brady Rhodes for the go-ahead score with 16 seconds to play.
