Grizz skiers do it again The Ashland High boys and girls ski teams swept to victory and grabbed two more Southern Oregon League titles in the process on Saturday in the SOL Championships at Mount Ashland. The district title is the fourth in as many years for Grizz boys and the second in a row for the girls. Overall, the boys have won seven SOL titles in the last 10 years, while the girls have captured eight. The Ashland boys ended league competition with 58 team points, 10 more than runner-up Lakeview (48) and 28 more than third-place St. Mary's (30). North Medford (20) and South Medford (12) rounded out the boys final standings. Ashland's girls team racked up 36 SOL points, while second-place South Medford earned 24 and third-place North Medford 12. The Grizz boys took first place in five of six league meets while their female counterparts were a perfect six-for-six. Southern Oregon League titles earned for both the AHS boys team and girls team a spot in the state meet, to be held March 5-7 at Willamette Pass. The meet could me moved to Mount Ashland if the snow level at Willamette is too low. Darren Yondorf led the Grizz boys over the weekend, finishing first in the giant slalom and second in the slalom, as well as placing second in combined events. Wes Tygerson snared a fourth-place medal in both the giant slalom and slalom events and a third combined. Other Grizz boys in the top-10 were: Brook Golling (sixth, giant slalom), Nick David (ninth, slalom), Jesse Barr (ninth, giant slalom) and Miles Rooklyn (10th, giant slalom). For the girls, Jessica Williams swept first place trophies in the giant slalom, slalom and combined events, and Lindsay Warren claimed second in all three categories. Other top-placing AHS girls were: Megan Hald (fifth slalom, seventh giant slalom) and Camila Thorndike (fifth slalom, ninth giant slalom).
