--> --> AuCoin to speak at university on salmon populations Ashland Daily Tidings Les AuCoin, an adjunct faculty members in the Southern Oregon University political science department, will present a lecture Friday afternoon on salmon populations in the northwestern United States. AuCoin is a former U.S. congressman and will review the current salmon crisis, new judicial decisions that raise questions about the salmon's listing as an endangered species, the human history leading to the collapse of wild salmon stocks and the genetic case against hatchery fish. AuCoin's lecture is scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday in Room 118 of the SOU Science Building. He is expected to outline options facing residents of the Northwest and what sacrifices may be in store.
