ScienceWorks Museum is hosting its third annual Noon Year’s Eve Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 31. It's billed as the place to be for those New Year’s revelers who love to party but don’t want to stay up late. This day of innovative programming for families runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A countdown to the New Year and balloon drop set for noon features more than 1,000 balloons.  Guests will get to make their own party hats and noise makers and participate in a sparkling cider toast to ring in 2016. Instead of having the traditional ball drop, ScienceWorks will hold an Egg Drop Challenge. Participants can design a container to hold and protect their precious cargo, a raw egg, from a drop of 20 feet. Drops will happen at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ScienceWorks will provide construction materials. Performers from the Creekside Fiddlers, featuring musicians ages 5 to 13, will play throughout the event. Following the balloon drop, guests can dance the afternoon away until 2 p.m. when the museum closes. Admission to Noon Year’s Eve is $5 per member, $10 per non-member and $30 for families. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.scienceworksmuseum.org/nye, and at the door. The ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum is at 1500 E. Main St., Ashland.
