Power went out at 7:15 a.m. this morning and was restored to the vast majority of customers at 7:37 a.m. said Monte Mendenhall, regional community manager at Pacific Power. He said the problem was solved by switching to another source of power. Mendenhall said the remaining customers power was restored a little after 8 a.m. He said more than 16,000 Pacific Power customers were affected. Crews were still on the scene this morning determining the exact cause of the outage. Dick Wanderscheid, city of Ashland electric and telecommunications director, said while they receive power from the Bonneville Power Administration, BPA receives power from Pacific Power, which was the reason the city was affected. Because the power came back on so quickly, he said they did not receive any calls from customers. Walt Anders, a captain with Ashland Fire & Rescue said they did not receive any calls about the power outage either. He said it did not affect them because they have a back up generator. "For us, it was business as usual," he said. "If we didn't notice the generator was on, we would not have known the power was out." The Ashland Police Department said no major problems were reported.
