In rebruary, l9#2, Lynd was the sub
of an DEV applicant case based on his applica
for employment as a consultant At that time
Committee records showed that he had been a sponsor
and signer for a number of left-wing organizations,
three of whick have since been cited by the Ktt
General as Communist. None o£,the persons i1
during this irvestiga-ion believed Lynd to be dis-
loyal SeveraloP his former associates stated
was inclined o b extremely liberal in his poli
views, but certainly not a Communist.
In May, 1950, this file was reopened and
New York was requested to submit a summary report
of all information since the original investigation
