pay the regular fare but they may go on the same plane, date
and time of departure unknown. lsays that he is not
aware of the number of people planning to attend from the
Seattle area, but apparently the number is very small
because plans for the chartered plane apparently tell '
through. said that detailed information concerning
the group from Seattle going to Washington could be -
obtained from the AFSC, 814 N. E. 40th, Seattle Washington,telephone ME 2-0502. During his comments said that
the March on Washington is being sponsored by the Nationals-
Committee for a Sane Euclear Policy NCSNP!,and S5§§QRQ"
YGQTTLIEB from the Sane Office,_245 2nd_Street NE, Washington,
D:_C., is co-ordinating the Washington, D. C. activity.

An article in the Sunday Bulletin," a Philadelphia
daily newspaper, Sunday edition, dated December 151963, captioned "Quakers Provide the Mainspring of
the Peace Movement Here, contains a subsection
captioned, Peace Education Division, American Friends
Service Committee." -This portion of the article quotes
CHARLES WALKER as stating the peace movement is now in
a lull and is undergoing a transition phase. HA1-ICBR
noted there is a new leadership coming in, the move-
ment trill change, and civil rights demonstrationshave attracted the most immediate response rrom the l
public. He stated that the charge that Oommunibts
have influenced the major part of the movement isgust not true. The articel continued WALKER statedThe Communist movement in the United States is dead,
they have no influence."
HA1-KER is further quoted as stating, I consider civil
disobedience the highest respect for law. I don't
agree withthose who say it encourages lawlessness.
The article noted that WALKER, considered by many in
the peace movement to be the most knowledgeable about
the Philadelphia area, is a Quaker and was sentenced

during World War II to four years as a Conscientious
Objector.
The "New York Evening Journal issue of April 28,
l9#2, contains an article entitled "L;-Bed !on't
Register." The article relates that the Reverend
A. J. MUSTE, Presbyterian Minister and Executive
Secretary of the Fellowship of Reconciliation FOR!,
had refused to register under the Selective Service
Act. In the article MUSTE is described as a former
leader of the Trotskyite faction or the Communist
movement in this country, The article also relates
that MUSTE was arrested in Illinois in 1933, charged
with plotting to overthrow the government, but he
was later released.
