Kudos to basketball Tuesday Apr 3, 2018 at 8:04 PM Apr 3, 2018 at 8:04 PM SPORTS LETTERS Kudos to basketball What a great year for Rogue Valley basketball! Kudos to the Cascade Christian boys, North Medford girls and the Crater boys and girls teams for reaching their respective state tournaments. As for Crater, it was the first time ever that both the boys and the girls made it to the ‘show’ in the same year. Kudos to the high school unified basketball games being played around the valley. It was a treat to see these very special athletes exhibiting their skills in front of local crowds. Kudos to the Southern Oregon Sports Commission for continuing its Know Your Role movement encouraging the change in sports behavior culture. It is noticeable that more and more schools are displaying banners and posters promoting good sportsmanship at all levels. Kudos to the boys and girls AAU programs for collaborating with the Rogue Valley Basketball Officials Association on encouraging pro-active sportsmanship at the club level. The partnership is also promoting the Know Your Role project and was very successful this past season. And kudos to the RVBOA for another season of making sure that over 1,500 basketball games were covered no matter what time of day or what day of the week. The association membership answered the call to make sure players of all ages were provided the chance to play this wonderful game. — Vern Loy, commissioner, RVBOA The Mail Tribune strives for accuracy, but when an a error of general significance occurs in our sports pages, it is our policy to correct it promptly.
