Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend July 27, 2005 Local Report Local soccer team winsNike Cup U-13 division The RVSC Crushers of Medford took first place in the U-13 gold division of the Nike Cup soccer tournament in Lake Oswego. Goalies Kylee Adderson and Danielle Green helped the Crushers to a 4-0 record by combining for four shutouts. Green also scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over the Lake Oswego Thunder in the championship game. Alex Kummer scored goals in a 1-0 win over the Thunder in the opening game and a 1-0 defeat of Bend United Reds. Mackenzie Krieser assisted on Kummer’s goal against Bend. Jamee Batten put the Crushers into the championship game with a tiebreaking goal in a shootout against Woodburn Storms in the semifinals. RV Future Stars capturesoccer tournament title The Rogue Valley Future Stars, a team of mostly 9-year-olds compiled from five different recreational teams in the area, defeated Renton, Wash., 2-0 in the championship game of the Corvallis Cup soccer tournament July 22-24. Advertisement In the title match, the Future Stars took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Louis Michelon off an assist by Tayler Yuma. Tracy Selgado sealed the victory with a goal off a long pass by Austin Schoenmann. Future Stars goalie Eric Wallen preserved the shutout with a diving save with six minutes left in the game. Medford Red eliminatedfrom Babe Ruth tourney Roseburg defeated Willamette Valley 14-4 for the championship Monday in the 13-year-old Babe Ruth State tournament at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls. Medford Red advanced to Sunday play, but lost to the two finalists and was eliminated. Medford Red fell to Roseburg, 6-4, and Willamette Valley, 13-9.
