In addition to the governor's race, local contested races include a new Circuit Court judge position, two commissioner seats and the 2nd Congressional District. Because the judge's race is nonpartisan, the candidate who garners 50 percent of the vote wins the election. If no one gets 50 percent of the vote, the two candidates with the most votes face off in the general election. Phoenix voters also will decide whether to join the Rogue Valley Sewer Services service area. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. May 16. The Elections Office drop box will be open 24 hours a day. The office is at 1101 W. Main St., Medford. The following drop boxes will be available beginning May 8: Ashland Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., open 24 hours a day until election day, when it closes at 8 p.m. Central Point Library, 116 S. Third St., Central Point, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, noon to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. election day. Eagle Point Library, 239 W. Main St., Eagle Point, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. election day. Gold Hill Library, 202 Dardanelles St., Gold Hill, open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. election day. Jacksonville Library, 340 W. C St., Jacksonville, open noon to 5 p.m. Monday and Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. election day.
