Jordan led of the race before being passed near the finish by Tualatin’s Megan Armstrong, who triumphed in 10:02. Freshman Justine Lawson set a lifetime best of 60.74 seconds to finish fourth in the girls 400-meter dash for the Tornado. Rachel Munson had a good day in the throwing events, finishing fourth in the discus with a mark of 123-9 and launching the shot put a lifetime best of 37-8 for fifth place. Ashland junior David Morgan set a school record of 8:35.32 in the boys 3,000. He tied with Klamath Union’s Kevin Pellegrino for fourth place. In other events, Ashland’s Natalie Hemphill took fifth in the girls 800 with a lifetime best of 2:19.01; and North Medford David Faaeteete took second in the boys discus (157-7) and third in the boys shot put (54-6¼ ); and the Tornado’s Steve Johnson claimed third in the discus at 151-5. Advertisement Mead High of Spokane won the boys team title with 65 points while Benson Tech of Portland took the girls title with 76 points. YREKA INVITATIONAL — At Yreka, North Valley’s Jeremiah Lewman outdueled South Medford’s Ryan Neuenschwander in a classic 300-meter hurdles showdown at the Yreka Invitational Saturday. Lewman blazed to a time of 38.69 seconds — the fastest time in Oregon this spring. Neuenschwander, meanwhile, broke the South Medford school record he had set one week earlier at the Crater Classic when he clocked 38.99. Eagle Point’s Rob Johnston matched his lifetime best in the pole vault with a 16-foot effort. The Roseburg High boys and girls teams took home the team titles. Teammate Matt dePuglia earned the Most Outstanding Thrower award after winning the discus witha toss of 147-1 in the discus. Cascade Christian’s Ben Kinney ran personal bests in 400-meter dash for runner-up honors. On the girls’ side, Coquille’s Holly Dieu turned in one of the fastest 3,000 meter times this season at 10:20.5.
