DeClerck’s two RBIs pushed the RiverDogs (4-1) to a 4-3 win in the nightcap after dropping a 10-9 decision in 10 innings during the opener. Second-baseman Abe Lumpkin’s heady defensive play helped Southern Oregon out of a jam in the seventh. With two outs and the tying run on second, Eugene’s Nate Larson hit a sharp grounder that caromed off shortstop Brent Foster and right into the hands of Lumpkin. Kenny Halpin and Lumpkin also had a pair of hits in Game 2. Advertisement Eugene scored four times in the top of the ninth to send Game 1 into extra innings. Matt Skundrick relieved RiverDogs’ pitcher Brent Kircher with one out and the bases loaded and Southern Oregon clinging to a 9-6 advantage. Skundrick struck out the first batter he faced, but Eugene’s Scott Corbett took the first pitch he saw and sent it fair just inside the third-base line for a bases-clearing double to tie the game at 9-all. In the 10th, Travis Nance hit the go-ahead RBI double for Eugene and the RiverDogs wouldn’t threaten in their half to succumb to defeat for the first time. Foster had three hits and two RBI to lead Southern Oregon. FIRST GAME Eugene Bandits...............200 100 204 1 — 10 8 2 S.O. RiverDogs..................001 050 300 0 — 9 8 2 C.
