Morgan crossed the finish line in 8 minutes, 45.57 seconds. Crater runners took the next three places with Stoutenburgh (8:50.69) crossing ahead of Jake Keyser (9:09.45) and Tom McGann (9:18.86). Ashland’s Andy Wright was fifth in 9:26.64. Crater’s Adam Goff and Geoff Donaldson also had strong outings. Goff ran a lifetime best of 14.8 seconds during his preliminary heat of the 110- meter hurdles, then won the finals in 15.38. Donaldson, meanwhile, ran a lifetime best of 1:56.92 to finish second in the 800 behind Corvallis’ Ryan Nichols (1:55.96). Crater’s Greg Dallaire clocked 2:01.66 to finish third. Advertisement South Medford’s Travis Patten cleared 12-6 in the pole vault to take second behind Roseburg’s Adam Brink, who soared to a lifetime best of 14-6 to win the event and establish himself as the state leader. In the boys 400, Grants Pass’ Dusty Parish clocked 51.7 to finish second and Justin Ruyle was fourth in 53.1. The twosome teamed with Mark Stork and Denver Speelman to finish third in the 4x400 relay in 3:34.6. On the girls side, Crater’s Myriah McMillin won the discus with a throw of 111-8, but Grants Pass enjoyed the most success of any school from the Southern Oregon Conference. Katelyn Van Brunt won the 800-meters in 2:20.57 with fellow Caver Amanda Straw taking fourth in 2:23.63. Van Brunt later teamed with Anna Lovelace, Audrey Richardson and Straw to win the 4x400 relay in 4:09.58 and take second in the 4x100 relay in 51.11. Shan Willard added a third-place effort in the pole vault and freshman Lorine Cruz nabbed fourth in the 1,500 (5:18.64) for Grants Pass. South Medford’s Jan Frodsham and Katrina Stevens went 2-3 in the 300 hurdles, clocking 48.63 and 48.73, respectively. CHIEFTAIN TWILIGHT — At Rogue River, Hidden Valley’s boys and girls romped to team victories in the nine-school event at the Field of Dreams. The Mustang boys got double wins from Mike Baker (100, 200), Jordan Hayter (110 hurdles, pole vault) and Nick Hayter (high jump, triple jump) to score 181 points. Host Rogue River was runner-up with 84 points. The Hidden Valley boys also registered victories from Blake Estep in the 400 (53.1), Aaron Francis in the shot put (46-2¾ ) — which was a personal best by six feet — and Sam Dollarhide in the javelin (159-4). Additionally, the Mustangs 4x400 relay team of Jeremiah Richardson, Jordan Kasler, Baker and Estep was victorious. Sophomore Mike Seus of St. Mary’s had a big day. Seus won the 1,500 (4:15.20) and placed second in the 800 (2:05.6) with a personal best time. Phoenix picked up a victory by Kevin Jantzer in the 3,000 (9:58.20). Other local boys winners were Caleb Renno of Illinois Valley in the 800 (2:02.9), Sam Green of Illinois Valley in the 300 hurdles (42.84), Alex Waroff of Rogue River in the long jump (20-7) and Wade Bennett of Rogue River in the discus (117-0). Sophomores Bailey Southern and Samantha Abel sparked the Mustang girls to victory. Hidden Valley scored 190 points, while Glendale was a distant second with 79. Abel won the 100 hurdles (17.9) and the 300 hurdles (51.94), while Southern placed first in the triple jump (30-6) and the 200 (27.65). The Mustangs also received a victory from McKenzie Jones in the 3,000 (11:54.03). Phoenix recorded its only win from Marcy Klimek in the 1,500 (5:12.30), while Rogue River’s Danielle Holmes won the shot put (35-9). St. Mary’s received a second-place effort from Isabel Keller in the 300 hurdles (52.7). The meet’s top individual performance was turned in by Lost River’s Kayla Swingle, who won three events. Swingle triumphed in the 400 (1:02.3), the 800 (2:36.1) and the pole vault (8-6).
