Police: DUII driver hit bicyclist in Medford Friday Sep 22, 2017 at 3:03 PM Sep 22, 2017 at 3:03 PM Local report A Medford woman is facing felony assault charges after allegedly injuring a bicyclist while driving under the influence of alcohol. Brittany Ann Hillman, 27, of the 200 block of Garfield Street has been charged with two counts of third-degree assault plus misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. She entered not guilty pleas to the charges Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court. On Aug. 22, Hillman was allegedly driving while intoxicated and hit a man riding his bike on Crater Lake Avenue, according to an affidavit by Medford police. The bicyclist was seriously injured and transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, the affidavit said. Hillman allegedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.12 percent, the affidavit said. Drivers over age 21 fail a DUII test if their blood alcohol reading is 0.08 percent or higher. For drivers younger than 21, any amount of alcohol in the bloodstream constitutes a failure of the sobriety test, according to the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles. Hillman has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Oct. 30, court records show.
