KTVL executive Kelley ends 7-year run, heads east Kingsley Kelley, vice president and general manager of KTVL Channel 10 in Medford, is leaving to take a similar position in Providence, R.I. His last day at work in Medford will be June 11. Kelley will become the chief executive at ABC affiliate WLNE-TV of Providence, where he will succeed another former KTVL manager, Tom Long. Long is moving on to lead WRGB-TV, a CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, N.Y. At KTVL, Kelley will be succeeded by another Kelley. Susan Kelley, no relation, is news director at WWMT-TV, the CBS station in Grand Rapids, Mich. All four stations are owned by KTVL's parent company, Freedom Communications. Kingsley Kelley, 38, said he hates to leave the Rogue Valley but "it's a neat opportunity." Providence is the 50th largest television market in the United States. In contrast, Medford ranks 143rd. Kelley has been with KTVL, a CBS affiliate, for seven years, beginning as program director and then moving up to general manager when Long left for Providence in 1996. Previously he was with Medford's KDRV Channel 12 as operations manager. In the Rogue Valley he has served on the boards of the United Way of Jackson County and the Pear Blossom Festival Association and has been active in the Boy Scouts and Medford Rogue Rotary Club. Susan Kelley was previously news director at stations in Denver and Oklahoma City. When she was at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City, the station won numerous awards for its coverage of the 1995 federal building bombing in that city.
