Sunday is the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. The Japanese strike took place on Dec. 7, 1941, and 2,402 Americans were killed. Libraries, museums, historical societies and veterans groups might be commemorating the event, so check the paper for listings. 2. The big movies opening at theaters this week are “Wild,” an R biopic starring Reese Witherspoon; and “The Pyramid,” an R horror flick. 3. There is plenty of sports action for those looking for a diversion from the shopping frenzy. The NBA, NFL and NHL are all in action, and the MLS Cup — featuring the Los Angeles Galaxy and the New England Revolution — takes place Sunday at 2 p.m. EST on ESPN. 4. Friday is one of the most fun days of the year - it’s Annual Day of the Ninja! It’s a day to dress up like a ninja and show your skills. You also could watch some ninja movies (including “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and have a ninja-themed party. 5. There’s still plenty of time to get your holiday shopping done, so if you’ve got names on your lists, why not hit the stores this weekend? There are plenty of sales still going on, and don’t forget to check out local deals. And if you’re looking for a cheap way to entertain your family, there’s nothing better than driving around to look at Christmas lights. Check the newspaper for a guide to lights, or just drive and enjoy!
