Staiger, Brackins power Iowa State past struggling Beavers By The Associated Press Dec 07, 2008 12:00 AM A A AMES, Iowa — Lucca Staiger scored 14 points for Iowa State in a 63-50 win over Oregon State Saturday in the second annual Big 12/Pac 10 Hardwood Series. Craig Brackins scored 13 points posted 10 rebounds for Iowa State (6-1). Wes Eikmeier added nine points and Diante Garrett had eight for the Cyclones. Oregon State (1-5) scored first, the Beavers only lead of the game. Brackins posted five points and five rebounds in the first half and the Cyclones led 33-24. Omari Johnson scored from the paint on two consecutive possessions to bring the Beavers within 50-44 with five minutes to play. Staiger ended the Beavers' 8-0 scoring drive with a 3-pointer. Garrett's short jumper and an estimated 28-foot 3-pointer by Staiger put Iowa State up 60-50 as the clock wound down.
