Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend September 16, 2005 Keyser edges Stoutenburgh at pre-district meet ROSEBURG — Crater’s Jake Keyser and Isaac Stoutenburgh finished in a virtual dead heat, but Keyser got credit for the win at the Southern Oregon Conference pre-district cross country meet Thursday at Riverforks Park. Keyser, a junior, clocked 16:38 over the 5,000-meter course while the senior Stoutenburgh was timed in 16:39. The two Crater standouts were far out in front of the rest of the pack. Ashland’s Cameron Barleen finished third in 17:11. The Crater boys also won the team title with 47 points, followed by North Medford with 67 and Ashland with 74. Natalie Hemphill led Ashland to the girls’ title. The senior distance ace clocked 20:18 to beat North Medford’s Brittney Dunn by 16 seconds. Advertisement Hemphill’s younger sister, Aria, finished third in 20:40. SKYLINE PRE-DISTRICT MEET — At Cave Junction, Kevin Jantzer took first place, Tyler Davis third and Elliott Jantzer fifth as Phoenix edged out Hidden Valley by two points at the Skyline Conference Pre-District Meet. Jantzer ran the 5,000-meter course in 17:17.2 in beating runner-up Darrick Waugh of Henley by five seconds. Hidden Valley turned the tables in the girls team race, scoring 37 points to Phoenix’s 39. The Mustangs’ Ashley Gilkey clocked 20:02 to take individual honors. Phoenix’s Marci Klimek was a close second in 20:09.4.
