Morin powers Ashland past Mountain View, 71-41 ASHLAND - One day after posting a career-high 33 points and 14 rebounds, Marla Morin poured in 20 points, snatched 13 rebounds and swiped four steals for the Ashland High girls basketball team on Saturday. Morin, a 6-foot-1 junior post, even nailed a 3-pointer in riddling the Cougars. "She's stepped it up," said first-year Ashland head coach Stephanie Santos. "She can really take the ball to the hole for a big girl." The Grizzlies (3-6) had three other players join Morin in double-figure scoring. Junior post Julia Sobolik contributed 13 points and six rebounds, freshman point guard Alysse Carlson scored 11 points and junior wing Stephanie Talbott added 10 points. Santos said the play of Carlson, Talbott, senior wing Abby Gooch, sophomore wing Kate Morris and junior post/wing Chloe Hansen on the perimeter was key to Ashland's victory. "My wings and guards really stepped it up and helped contribute," Santos said. "They ran the offense, played good defense and rebounded." MT.
