PREP BASEBALL Wilson's clout aids Mustangs in rout ROGUE RIVER -- Ryan Wilson continued his assault on Skyline Conference pitching Tuesday when he cracked his fourth home run in three games as Hidden Valley smacked Rogue River, 9-2. Hidden Valley led 4-2 going to the top of the fourth inning when the Mustangs put up four more runs. Wilson came to bat with one on and no out and mashed left-hander Jarrod Garwood's offering over the fence. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound junior center fielder went 2-for-3 on the day and is now 27-for-39 (.692) in nine Skyline games. The third-year regular broke Rich Gay's 1986 conference record for hits in a season when he lashed 46 hits and hit .545 last spring. The Mustangs were looking for ways to beef up their offensive production when they moved Wilson into the leadoff slot. "Early on, we struggled with getting people on base," said Hidden Valley assistant coach Chris Kennedy. "We tried him further back in lineup, but it wasn't happening for us. Hitting is contagious and he's going to be on base whether he's walked, gets a hit, or hit by a pitch. He seems to get us going."
