North Medford had that problem, committing 28 turnovers Friday in a Southern Oregon Conference boys basketball loss at Klamath Union, 49-43. The two are tied for third in the SOC with Grants Pass. North (11-8, 5-4 SOC) assumed a 43-42 lead with 2½ minutes left but didn’t score again. Twice in that span, KU (11-7, 5-4) rebounded its own missed free throws and scored. Black Tornado coach Tim Sam didn’t want to make excuses. Advertisement "It’s always tough to get wins on the road against quality teams," he said. "But you’re not going to beat any quality team with 28 turnovers and as poorly as we executed on offense, which contributed to those turnovers." North, which shot 50 percent from the floor (17 of 34), scored only one point in the second quarter, getting shut out the first 6½ minutes. "I think our man-to-man defense stifled them," said Pelicans coach Brett Crawford. "North likes more of a running style, to get up and down the court. Our height bothered them." The Tornado got 14 points each from Ben Running and Ryan Lucas. Will Sargent scored 17 points for KU, including nine in the fourth quarter. ROSEBURG 70, EAGLE POINT 41 — At Roseburg, Seth Bauman scored a game-high 19 points as Roseburg used its size advantage to garner a convincing SOC win. The Indians (14-5, 8-1 SOC) outrebounded Eagle Point 30-7 and shot 58 percent from the field, including 8 of 17 from 3-point range, en route to the win.
