Mustangs begin with win over Fairfield By Mail Tribune staff Updated: May 29, 2021 08:09 PM A A FAIRFIELD, Calif. — The Medford Mustangs opened the summer American Legion AAA baseball campaign with an 8-1 victory over host Fairfield in the Fairfield Expos Tournament Saturday. The Mustangs got five-hit pitching from Eli Westrick and knocked 13 hits en route to the comfortable win. Westrick struck out five and walked one. The run he allowed was earned. Tanner Douglas led the offense, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run. Douglas and Cody Borraggine each hit triples in a three-run sixth inning that put the Mustangs ahead 6-0. Borraggine, Darin Marsh, Zac Ankeny and Ian Wood each had two hits for Medford. The Mustangs face California teams Napa and Chico today at noon and 3 p.m., respectively. The tournament ends Monday.
