Driver in fatal crash was drunk, police say The driver in a fatal crash on Highway 140 near Fish Lake last month had a blood alcohol level more than four times the state's legal limit, police say. Lynn Allen Hansen, 37, who died in the Jan. 7 crash, had a .34 percent blood alcohol level, Oregon State Police Sgt. Michael Buckman said Tuesday. A driver in Oregon is legally drunk if he or she has a blood alcohol level of .08 percent. Hansen's passenger, Ronald Leonard Dean, 50, had a blood alcohol level of .42 percent, Buckman said. Both of the dead men were from Prospect. Police found what appeared to be a half-gallon jug of vodka and a case of beer in Hansen's van. Hansen was eastbound on the highway when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the westbound lane, striking an oncoming Honda four-door driven by Mark Baird, 40, of Gold Hill. Baird was critically injured in the crash and remains in Rogue Valley Medical Center in fair condition nearly a month later. Dean's 13-year-old son, Justin, suffered internal injuries and six broken bones. The Elk Trail School student has been recuperating at his grandparents' home in White City.
