A night after their most inefficient offensive showing of the season against Corban, the Raiders (9-0, 2-0 Cascade Conference) put that performance behind them early. They took leads of 12-1 in the first set and 10-0 in the second, trailing only briefly at the beginning of the third. Tyana Andrews deposited 12 kills on 23 attacks to go with six digs, Corynn Kopra added eight kills and Lauren McGowne had 30 assists in leading SOU to a .274 attacking average. The Beacons dropped to 7-2 overall and 0-2 in the circuit. The win was SOU's 13th straight at home dating back to 2013. Niki Small helped again with seven kills and a team-high three assisted blocks, while Laura Morse matched her in the attacking department and collected eight digs. Ashlyn Flynn had a match-high 13 digs. SOU will attempt to prolong its best start in 24 years next weekend in Washington, with matches Friday at Evergreen and Saturday at Northwest. Men’s Soccer SOU 1, WILLIAM JESSUP 0 : At Rocklin, Calif., Brendan Allen's golden goal five minutes into overtime gave the Southern Oregon men's soccer team its fourth straight win to start the season. Allen, a freshman from Roseville, Calif., who also scored twice in SOU's win at Menlo, rebounded Tanner Holland's miss and deposited it from in front of the net with 94:59 on the clock. Holland was credited with an assist on the play. William Jessup, a 5-9-2 team last season, dropped to 1-1. The Warriors held a 12-5 advantage in shots and put four on goal. SOU keeper Tyler Luebbert earned the first shutout in Raider history. The Raiders return to the field at 1 p.m. today against Pacific Union in Angwin, Calif.
