Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend July 19, 2005 Headliners will use new amphitheater at the fair Visitors to the 2005 version of the Jackson County Fair will have a chance to hear music headliners perform at 8 p.m. daily in the fairground’s new 5,900-capacity Lithia Motors Amphitheater. Lawn seating will be free (but a ticket is still needed). Reserved seats cost $15. Tickets are on sale at the amphitheater ticket office from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Saturday. Performers scheduled for the amphitheater are: Tuesday — Cheap Trick. Wednesday — Tracy Lawrence. Thursday — Sugar Ray. Advertisement Friday — Clay Walker. Saturday — Raven Symone and Diana DeGarmo. The fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson County Expo Park in Central Point. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and over and youth 7 to 12. Children 6 and under get in free. Parking is $4. Fairgoers can escape the traffic and parking hassles thanks to the Rogue Valley Transportation District, which will again run daily shuttles from Crater High School in Central Point and the Rogue Valley Mall in Medford. Bus service will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the last bus won’t leave the fair until midnight (Sunday bus service will end at 7 p.m.). Cost is $1 for adults and 50 cents for seniors and kids. On Senior Day, which is Wednesday, buses will start at 9 a.m., and seniors ride free. Wednesday is also Kids Day, and children 12 and under get in free until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday are Hispanic Days, with demonstrations, crafts, bingo and dancing. A dance with DJ Lazer is scheduled for 9:30 to 11 Saturday night. Latin bingo is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday on the Carnival Stage. The Jackson County Talent Contest is scheduled for Thursday, with top adult and youth winners representing the county at the Oregon State Fair in August in Salem. Other contests are a diaper derby and hula hoop contest Wednesday, bubble blowing and chocolate cake contests Wednesday (bring a cake to the Padgham Pavilion by 7:30 p.m. and get in free), gunny sack races and mother/daughter look-alike contest Thursday, water balloon toss and father/son look-alike contest Friday, treasure hunt Saturday and watermelon seed-spitting contest Sunday. Daily attractions will include the Qwest Technology Exhibit, Amazing Animals Productions, hypnotist Suzy Haner, livestock and 4-H shows, street performers, the dinner theater stage and the Butler Amusements carnival.
