George Allen Savage, 52, of the 1000 block of North Third Street, Central Point, was arrested Jan. 20 following a fight with his brother, according to an affidavit filed by Jackson County Sheriff's Office in the case. Savage allegedly grabbed a "large" block of firewood during the fight and used it to hit his brother in the head. The brother reported to sheriff's deputies that he was also punched and kicked twice after he fell to the ground. The victim reportedly had three lacerations on the left side of his face and was bleeding heavily from the injury, the document says.  According to the document, Savage admitted to the altercation and that he punched his brother, but he did not tell them he used firewood in the attack. At an initial court appearance Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court, Savage pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, and misdemeanor charges of assault constituting domestic violence and harassment. He remained lodged Thursday in the Jackson County Jail without bail. http://www.mailtribune.com/article/20160204/NEWS/160209811 © 2016 Copyright © 1995-2011 Crain Communications Inc.
