The Knights held Phoenix scoreless in the first period and limited the Pirates to just six first-half points on the way to a 45-23 victory in a pivotal Skyline Conference showdown at North Valley High. "We played tough man-to-man (defense) the whole way," Robertson said. "I told the girls after the game that offhand I couldn’t remember a better defensive effort since I’ve been at North Valley." Chrislyn Seybold, a 5-foot-11 senior post, led North Valley offensively with 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Elaina Renius, a 6-3 senior, added 12 points and nine boards. The primary defensive stopper for North Valley was 5-10 senior wing Whittney Makepeace, who held high-scoring Pirates guard Ashley McCarty to three points. Advertisement "Makepeace just shut her down," Robertson said. "She (Makepeace) got beat a couple times off the dribble but our other kids helped out great. "I thought this would be a slugfest but our defense was too tough for them." Phoenix dropped to 3-1 in league play and 8-5 overall with the loss. LAKEVIEW 61, ROGUE RIVER 41 — At Rogue River, Anneka Tucker had 21 points and Maura Bradbury and Jenna Kiely tallied 15 each as Lakeview grabbed an early lead and rolled past Rogue River in Skyline Conference action. HIDDEN VALLEY 46, MAZAMA 36 — At Klamath Falls, Stephanie Dean led all scorers with 12 points as Hidden Valley (7-7, 2-2 Skyline) put together a dominant fourth quarter to lock up the road win. Tied at 31 to start the final quarter of play, it was Hidden Valley’s defense and precision from the foul line that helped seal the deal. Hidden Valley’s Kelly Anderson stood out with eight rebounds and three steals as Mazama was held to five fourth-quarter points. Hidden Valley also managed to convert nine of its 14 free throws in the fourth quarter, and 20 of 35 for the game. HIDDEN VALLEY (46) — Dean 12, Hibbard 11, Bleser 7, Tennant 5, Wilson 5, L.
