A. C. Medford held its breath while the local high school team of basketball tossers met the star aggregation from the O. A. C. on the local floor last night. The local boys were in a whirlwind mix up with the speedy bunch that trounced the Stanford university team recently in a 28-0 contest. It was an exhibition game — and it was an exhibition worth seeing. At the end of the battle the score stood 22-6 — and everybody yelled, for it was a better record than the local boys were expected to make in a game with the coast champions. The O. A. C. boys earnestly praised the local team for its speed and skill. It was several minutes of hard work before the Medford lads sized up their competitors and got a line on their game, during which period the visitors scored their points. Then the Rogues came up with spirit and began to basket a ball occasionally themselves. The line-up: O. A. C. — Lowe, guard; Mix, guard; Johns, guard; Blagg, center; Blakeley, forward; Sieberts, forward; Friedman, forward. Medford — Young, guard; Torney, guard; Brandon, center; Narregan, center; Thomas, forward; Williamson, forward; Fish, forward. CENTRAL POINT The entertainment, Old Plantation Rhymes and Melodies of the Sunny South, given by Mrs. Owens, in the Central Point opera house Wednesday night was a much enjoyed and appreciated affair. The large audience was a testimony of the high esteem which Mrs. Owen has won for herself here the past week in the heart of the people. The ladies of the M. E. church are planning entertainment for Washington's birthday. This promises to be a very enjoyable affair, a good program is being prepared and an excellent lunch will be served. An invitation is extended to every lady to attend. The Central Point high school basketball teams played the Gold Hill teams on the Gold Hill floor Friday evening. Central Point people are thoroughly enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. All sickness has vanished at the magic touch of spring and optimism prevails.
