Drink One for Dane event returning to Dutch Bros Friday Thursday May 4, 2017 at 6:40 PM On Friday, May 5, all Dutch Bros locations will donate proceeds from purchases to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event, Drink One For Dane, is in its 11th year. It is meant to honor Dutch Bros co-founder Dane Boersma, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a disease that affects parts of the nervous system responsible for muscle movement. Boersma died from the disease in 2009. There is no known cure for ALS, but Dutch Bros officials are hopeful that the research they continue to donate to will lead to one. To date, the Grants Pass-based coffee company reported donations of more than $2.53 million. The 2016 Drink One for Dane event brought in more than $758,000.
