Pickup fire snuffed before spreading to home Monday Oct 10, 2016 at 11:53 AM Oct 10, 2016 at 4:58 PM WHITE CITY — Firefighters prevented a pickup fire from spreading to a mobile home about 10 feet away Monday morning. Dispatch logs show the fire was called in just after 7 a.m. in the 3000 block of Avenue A. Jackson County Fire District 3 spokeswoman Ashley Lara said the call originally came in as a vehicle fire, but was later upgraded to a structure fire because of the flames' proximity to the home. A caller reporting the incident was successful in waking and evacuating the home's resident. District 3 responded with three engines and a wildland rig because of a nearby field. Medford Fire-Rescue also sent an engine to the scene. Crews had the fire knocked down in about 10 minutes. No one was hurt. The cause remains under investigation.
