Walden to announce academy appointments Thursday Dec 15, 2014 12:00 AM A A U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Hood River, will be in Medford Thursday to announce nominations he has made to the U.S. Service Academies, including the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y., according to a news release from Walden's office. The announcements will be made at 3:30 p.m. at Walden's Southern Oregon District Office, 14 N. Central Ave., Suite 112, Medford. Three local high school students who have been nominated will be on hand, as will members of Walden’s Service Academy Nomination Board, made up of active and retired military officers who interview potential candidates to the service academies and make recommendations to Walden.
