May nips fallen Love at tape in HV event GRANTS PASS � Rogue River�s Nathan Love and Nathan May of Phoenix were running even until about 10 feet from the finish line, where Love tripped, sending May to the victory in the Hidden Valley Invitational cross country meet Tuesday. May�s first place coupled with Phoenix placing four more runners in the top 11 led to the Pirates winning the boys team event in the 2-mile race at the All Sports Park. Phoenix totaled 33 points to 46 for runner-up Henley. Hidden Valley was third with 86 points and Mazama had 110. Only four of the seven schools participating had complete boys squads. The sophomore May posted a time of 10 minutes, 34 seconds. Love got up from his spill and finished second in 10:47. Lalo Flores, the next Phoenix runner, was fourth at 11:15, while Kyle Gillette (8th, 11:44), Chad Kane (9th, 11:47) and Adam Chisek (11th, 12:09) completed the Pirates� winning contingent. In girls, Rogue River captured three of the top four spots, led by individual winner Bobbi Wright, and defeated Mazama for the team crown. Rogue River scored 42 points to 54 for Mazama. Henley, the only other complete team out of seven competing, had 63 points. Wright won the 2-mile race with a time of 12:49 BOYS TEAM SCORES � Phoenix 33, Henley 46, Hidden Valley 86, Mazama 110.
