Pirate runner May wins race ROGUE RIVER - Phoenix's Nathan May held off hard-charging Andrew Barella of Rogue River to win the Skyline Conference pre-district cross country meet at Valley of the Rogue State Park on Tuesday. May covered the flat, 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes, 51 seconds, four seconds ahead of Barella. Phoenix's Kyle Gillette and Ialo Flores were close behind in 17:07 and 17:08, respectively, and Adam Chizek took sixth in 18:23 as the Pirates charged to the team title. Phoenix finished with 26 points. Rogue River was a distant second with 55 points, and Henley was third with 68. In the girls meet, Lauren Fety of Rogue River was the individual champion in 19:59 and her sister, Allegra, was third in 20:54.
