By Amanda Hinds Doyle Siskiyou Daily News October 14. 2014 8:22PM Boles fire arson suspect pleads not guilty Ronald Beau Marshall YREKA — A Boles fire arson suspect made his first appearance in court Tuesday. Weed resident Ronald Beau Marshall, 24, pleaded not guilty to all counts against him and denied all enhancements to the case. Marshall was arrested Saturday morning as the suspect who set the Boles fire, which burned through 479 acres in Weed. While Marshall's attorney, Shawn Collins, requested bail be discussed at a later date, Deputy District Attorney Martha Aker requested that bail be set at $1 million. “We feel the defendant is a risk to the public,” said Aker. “According to the evidence, he started the fire.” Aker said the prosecution will attempt to prove statements made by Marshall that he started the fires. Judge Donald Langford sided with the prosecution. He stated that bails can be set at a dollar amount equal to the alleged damage to property. Langford set Marshall’s bail at $2.5 million. The court scheduled Marshall’s preliminary hearing for Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m. Marshall has appeared in Siskiyou County Court several times in the past. He has faced charges ranging from petty theft to second degree burglaries. He last appeared in court June 10 for a probation violation arraignment where he was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service in relation to a burglary conviction.
