The Mail Tribune has this suggestion to make, not so much to the new city officials as to the people of the city. The new mayor and councilmen represent you. If you have complaints to make go to them, if you have doubts or suspicions, take those doubts and suspicions and lay them on the council table. In other words, don’t let another epidemic of misrepresentation and insinuation get started. The books of the city are kept not for the edification of the city administration, but for the enlightenment of the people. They are your books. If you want to know how your money is being spent, go to the city hall and find out. The facts are all there, they have always been there. If someone tells you someone else told them, that this, that or the other thing is true, don’t pass the rumor on to your neighbor as a fact, go to the source and find out. Medford is faced by many perplexing problems. With the active interest and support of the people of the city, these problems can and will be successfully solved. Without such a spirit of cooperation, nothing can be solved. A good New Year’s resolution for the people of Medford this coming year, therefore, would be for everyone to resolve to take a greater personal interest in local affairs, and thereby promote not only harmony, but efficiency in municipal administration. Why import food stuffs into our county, when we have the raw material and the very best facilities for converting them into finished products. Every dollar spent for Jackson County products helps your own financial condition one hundred percent. LOCAL AND PERSONAL There has been quite an exodus of Medford and valley alumni and former students of the O. A. C. and U. of O. since last Thursday to attend the big homecoming of the O. A. C. and the football game between the teams of those institutions tomorrow afternoon. The majority of local folks went by auto. ----- The rain of last night and the evident desire of the small turbulent element of this section to be good resulted in the police enjoying a very quiet night last night. — Alissa Corman; [email protected]
