Tornado girls shine in a preseason match-up The North Medford girls tennis team won 16 of the 25 matches played in a preseason battle with Ashland Monday. Shannon Leever won two matches for North - one in singles competition then the other with doubles partner Annie Chaney. Melissa Witten, McKenzie Hilmer, April Louie, Kendra Ira, Kelsey Thornton and Valerie Iverson also won two matches in both singles and doubles for the Black Tornado. Ashland's Sam Holti, Sarah Cate, Camille Morris and Kristian Voskes each won two matches for the Grizzlies. Boys' Golf SOC FOUR-WAY - At Rogue Valley Country Club, North Medford's Adam Browne shot a tournament-best 72 during a preseason, four-team Southern Oregon Conference meet. The tournament featured two teams each from Roseburg, North Medford, South Medford and Klamath Union. Roseburg black took the top team spot with a 308, while North Medford's red squad finished second at 321. South Medford blue took third with a 334 and South's black squad finished fourth with a 335. Roseburg's Pat Jovin and North's Mike Barry each shot a 75 to tie for second, while the Indians' Tyler Miller shot a 77 for fourth and South's Andrew Rasmussen and North's Chris Daggitt tied for fifth with a 78. SOC FOUR-WAY - At Cedar Links Golf Course, Grants Pass' Joey Rossknecht earned medalist honors with a 76 at a four-team, non-counting preseason event. The Cavemen took first as a team with a 355, while Eagle Point finished second at 363. Crater's Triston Webb took second overall with an 82, while teammate Sean Callahan finished third with an 83.
