St. Mary's falls to Eagles, 53-12 By Staff reports Sep 28, 1997 12:00 AM A A Josh Templeton hauled in three first-quarter touchdown passes to leadYoncalla to a 53-12 Big Fir League football thumping of St. Mary's Saturdaynight at Spiegelberg Stadium. The Eagles (2-0 BFL) rushed to a 41-0 halftime lead thanks in large partto Templeton's touchdown grabs of 46, 13 and 33 yards. Yoncalla quarterback Nathan Gordon connected on four touchdown on thenight -- three to Templeton and a 23-yard strike to Jacob Lemley. Yoncalla was good, fast and big, said St. Mary's coach DickMaurer, whose team fell to 0-2 in league play. They just dominatedus. The Crusaders got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on a 7-yardscamper by tailback J.P. Naumes. St. Mary's put together its most impressive scoring drive of the seasonin the fourth quarter when they marched 98 yards, culminated by a Rick Gibson45-yard touchdown pass to Manny Malfavon.
