Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend September 10, 2005 Raiders netters rebound with rout ASHLAND — Two days after suffering a rare home setback in its Cascade Conference opener, the eighth-ranked Southern Oregon University volleyball team’s supercharged offense crushed league rival Warner Pacific College in straight games at McNeal Pavilion Friday. The Raiders (9-3, 1-1 Cascade) downed the Knights (2-5, 0-2 Cascade) for the 11th consecutive meeting since 2000 and for the 10th time in Ashland since 1987. The scores were 30-8, 30-9 and 30-24. Sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Hamilton-Smith converted her first eight swings and set a SOU match attack efficiency record by finishing 12-for-14 without error, an .857 percentage. As a team, the Raiders went 32-for-45 with only two miscues (.667) in breezing through Games 1 and 2. SOU Setters Jamie McCreary (15) and Marcy Oakland (a former Warner Pacific player) combined for 43 assists in engineering a 52-kill final output. Advertisement "I liked how the team approached this match," Raider assistant coach Jamie Rosenthal said. "We were a bit down in the dumps (after Wednesday’s loss to Oregon Tech), but we came back with a lot of determination. Our setters did a fantastic job of mixing (the offense) up and keeping it quick. When we do that, we’re difficult to defend." Senior middle Nicholette Le Bel (6-for-10), sophomore opposite Shanna Claflin (7-for-13) and freshman hitter Brittany Lawson (6-for-10) also had stellar offensive stat lines for SOU. Soccer ALBERTSON 2, SOUTHERN OREGON 0 — At Caldwell, Idaho, Albertson (4-1, 2-0 Cascade Conference) matched its best start in history and avenged 7-1 loss to SOU last season. Nikki Anderson tucked home a feed from Allison Rupert in the right corner of the net in the 51st minute to give Albertson the edge. The Coyotes added an insurance goal in the 60th minute, as Sarah Barlow gave Rupert a nice through ball, and Rupert found Laura Fink on the right side of the box, where she one-timed a shot into the upper V. The Raiders (1-3, 0-1 Cascade), who had won the past three meetings, saw Dacarie Robertson hit the left post on a blast in the 12th minute and a Kara Bradach shot from inside the 18 stopped by Coyote keeper Candice Frank in the 84th minute. Frank notched her third consecutive shutout.
