Eastern Oregon women hold off Southern Oregon LA GRANDE - Behind 34 points from Brooke Sellards, the Eastern Oregon women's basketball team survived Southern Oregon, 88-82, in Cascade Collegiate Conference action Saturday night. The Raiders (6-8 overall, 2-2 CCC) were paced by 20 points from Sara Marks and 16 points and 11 rebounds from Jaime Stanford. Melissa Core was the third SOU player in double figures, tallying 10 points, and Kara Magee-Arick contributed eight points and eight rebounds off the bench. Sellards made 12-of-22 shots from the field and grabbed nine rebounds. Teammates Julie Coffin (18 points and 11 rebounds) and Tricia Haddock (11 points and seven rebounds) provided her primary help. The Mountaineers improved to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in Cascade action. Wrestling SOU WRESTLERS PLACE SEVEN AT PLU OPEN - At Tacoma, Wash., Southern Oregon took home two individual champions and placed seven total wrestlers at the 16-team Pacific Lutheran Open on Saturday. SOU's Chris Huntley edged Oregon State's Brad Wahrlich 8-3 for the 165-pound title. At 197, Wes Balensifer shut down Menlo College's Willie Randolph, 9-0, in the finals. Jordan Ottow (133) and Mike Whitehead (285) each took second for the Raiders, while Shannon Slover (149) finished third, Nolan Harris (125) fourth and Brian Wilson (174) fifth.
